Janabe Salman Farsi r.a. is quoted as saying that the last Prophet of Allah, Muhammad s.a.w.a. requested Imam 'Ali a.s. to wear a ring on the right hand so that he may be listed among the muqarrabeen (those near to Allah). The Imam asked the Prophet as to whom the Muqarrabeen were, to which the Prophet replied: Angel Jibreel and Angel Mikaiel. Then the Imam inquired as to which stone should he wear. The Prophet replied: Aqeeq (Carnelian), as this red stone had accepted the Oneness of Allah, the Prophethood of Muhammad, and the vicegerency of 'Ali ibn Abi Talib, and the heavens are for Ali’s friends and Shias".

It is highly commendable sunnah for men and women to wear that ring on the right hand.

Our comment: To remind us, accordingly, when we are approaching people and calling them to God, to do it in nice words, as it was ordered to Prophet Moses/Muusaa a.s. regarding to even Pharaoh/Firawn himself.
